Methodology

The Reflect methodology, based on the ideas of Paulo Freire, is used at Baby Shine Day Care and Pre-School to improve early childhood education in Tanzania, including the teaching of English.

The Reflect methodology

  • Participatory Approach: Children actively participate in their learning through games and interactive activities that foster social and communication skills.

  • Visual Tools and Games: Visual tools and educational games are employed to teach basic concepts in an engaging and accessible way.

  • Critical Development: Even at a young age, children are encouraged to solve problems and think creatively through group activities.

  • Cyclical Learning Process: Educational activities follow a cycle of action and reflection for effective and continuous learning.

  • Child Empowerment: By giving children a voice in their education, their confidence and ability to make informed decisions are enhanced.

Importance of English

English, as a universal language, is crucial in today’s globalized world. Learning English from an early age opens educational and professional opportunities, facilitating communication in an international context. With English skills, children will have a future with more opportunities, access to better jobs, and the ability to interact with people worldwide. At Baby Shine, English is integrated into the curriculum to prepare children for a future full of possibilities.
